I owned a 1999 Mainship 350 (alias 390) from 2002 to 2005. This was a
semi-planning hull, although mine wouldn't get up, probably because of the
weight of the single 300 hp Yanmar engine which, in my opinion, was far more
power than needed. We cruised about a 1000 hours on the eastern seaboard
and managed fairly rough seas on the Delaware and the NJ coast. I installed
a Northern 6 kw. generator with their superb sound enclosure. It is
certainly a lot more of a dog friendly trawler than a Grand Banks. Our two
Labs loved the 2nd state room and easy stairway to the fly, the cubby holes
on either side of the upper station and the safe walk around for them.

I sold it in Jan 06 it was for slightly more than I paid for it in Jan 02.
Yes if I had wanted to pay two or three times the price I did, and didn't
want to cruise with our canine companions, I might have bought a Grand
Banks, which I did look at quite seriously at the Trawler Festival, but the
admiral had decided the Mainship 390 was the only really-dog friendly
trawler, so who was I to argue with her? :-)
