G'day Jeffrey, we leave the Guest on 24/7 for these many years. It seems to
just do it's job silently and effectively. It runs from our Trace 4024
sinewave inverters without a complaint
It isn't designed for charging deeply discharged batteries but I'll be that
if its on all the time it will keep ahead of your thruster bank. I doubt if
you'd use more than 50 AH for each use with lots of time between uses. Heck,
even 10 minutes at 400 amps @ 24 volts, 10000 watts or about 15 HP which is
the largest continuous rating of a normal thruster motor, uses no more than
66 AH.
A continuous 10 minute duty cycle would shut most 24 volt motors down via
the thermal cut-out.
A thruster really doesn't need or want deep cycle batteries...same as a
windlass.
High current for short periods is what these motors wants. A start battery
is better suited, IMHO, for this application if it can be charged
automatically.
As always YMMV.....
