Joel - good 'real life' comparison! Also, proves G/Fs are more inciteful
than we allow sometimes...

Also, Marin reminds us all that a plow is designed to go thru the
dirt/sand/earth, so why would we expect it to hold?! We all know there are reasons
it is this way (makes it dig in), but the fact remains it will drag in
many situations.

I have always admired the Danforth-type anchor, but I gotta figure out how
to make it fit right.

Some drag is good, yes? Relieves tackle stress.

Difficulty in raising? Also good - means it dug in. My Danforth was VERY
hard to break out during the aforementioned event.

I started this string, and as an update to you all I am going to:
1. inspect the 60# Delta clone
2. try the Danforth in the pulpit
3. drag out the 44# CQR
4. do a series of coarse pull tests in typical conditions over the next few
 trips.
5. maybe get the big one
6. will advise results.

regards, Jim

So I eased the 45 CQR rode to see how much the 20lb danforth
could hold by it self and damn if it didn't work better than the CQR. So,
in
that particular locale and condition I would highly recommend the Danforth
style. Budgeting for the FX-37 or the FX-55 as my main anchor now, but in
the
mean time the 20lb Danforth proudly sits on the bow as my lunch hook.
