Yep, you got it right. Not sure if it requires unscented or not. I used
this method on the transom of my old boat. The name bubbled up and
sloughed off fairly easily. Requires a good compounding and rewax due to
a ghost image left on the fiberglass, which faded after a couple of year
or two.

I need to remove the old name from the boat to make room for the new
name.
Black paint on white fiberglass gelcote. It seems to me that I read
some where that using Easy Off oven cleaner works best, but it needs to
be unscented variety. Do I have the facts straight, and is there
anything special I should know about, about doing this project. Any &
all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
