For any of you that may be interested. I just
Upgraded one of my engines from the Standard 53 AMP Motorola
To a Leece-Neville 90AMP Marine.
The Specifics: Item: 110-603, part number 8MR2070TA
Needs Kit Item: 118-2 (2 inch adapter) and sleeve for 3/8"
mounting bolt
I added a 3 inch 1/2" belt pulley to replace the 3.5 that came standard with
the Motorola and the Ford L.(a little more amperage at idle)
You will need the mounting parts from the old Alternator
This is a self excited single wire alternator that only needs one wire and a
ground. It is adjustable for high voltage setting.
This is just about as large as you can go and drive it with a single belt.
(small case alternator also)
This is a simple drop in if you have the skills to change an alternator.
My total cost including tax and shipping $205.50 (new and NOT a reman or
rebuilt)
This is a top of the line alternator designed for Diesel Applications with a
MTBF of 250,000 miles or better on a truck. Should last my lifetime.
(I think Balmar uses Leese Neville as a basis for their modified alternator
sets but you need to check for your self.)
Currently my own set-up is on the STBD engine I have a 140AMP Leese Neville
and a 53 A Motorola
On the Port Engine (this is a direct drive for the Stabilizer system) I have
the new 90 A Leese Neville.
I am now capable of running on a single engine and still have moderate dc
power to power up my systems.
