Larry,
A very good resource for cruising the western Caribbean is the Cruisers Net Online
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Cruisers_Network_Online/ run by Glenn Tuttle, who has
cruised his Grand Banks 46 Tothill around the Caribbean for the past 10 years or so
and is now mainly cruising between stops in Panama, San Blas Islands, and Cartagena.
Lots of good information on marinas, security, politics affecting cruising, and more.
Check it out.

This post has to do with T&T to the extend of where might be a good place in
CA to keep a boat for a while. It should stimulate a good thread to blow away
the late winter blahs from our trawlerers near the 49th parallel!
Been considering a trip south of the border and I would appreciate any
information some of you old --young--CA fans might have. I've looked at the
Rio Dulce and it looks interesting. Any other ideas about marinas further up
Lake Izabel? Also the coastal cities of Honduras. I understand Costa Rica is
beautiful but the yanquis have driven up real estate and other costs way up.
Any ideas on which country might make the best trade off of security and
economy and beauty to spend a few seasons?
Also the best way to get there. Fake east and go west? Corpus to Vera Cruz or
Tampico? Keys to Isla Mujeres? Dopers? USCG and Guarda Costa?
