The absolute worst you can do is brass of ANY kind. It will fail.
The best is bronze. This will be a cast fitting- not machined. If I understand
your installation, you will be going from bronze to bronze to bronze and
there will be no difference in the nobility of the metals. Keeps galvanic
action to 0 or near 0.
Next best if there is no strain, no stress, to torque, no pressure and
everything is bolted down and rigid is schedule 80 PVC. Remember: bond
everything or bond nothing. If your boat is bonded, you'll need a bonding wire
across the PVC.
Next is probably 90/10 cupronickel but the price escalates.
Next is 316 SS.
One mans opinion.

Usual material options for the 1" street elbow are 316 Stainless, cast red
brass, and polypropylene with reinforcing collars.
Best material and options I haven't considered?
