A guy at my marina (we'll call him Capt Ahab) told me of a barking dog
incident at a popular anchorage. When Ahab complained to the dog's owner he
also got the reply - "well you know - dogs do bark" and refused to quiet
them. Ahab then turned on his amplified CD player and played polka music as
loud as he could for hours on end with the speakers aimed at the doggy boat.
I'm not sure how the other boaters felt but the doggy boat hauled anchor and
left.

So the guy was a jerk - it happens.
The point is that many pets are the equivalent of people's children who can
also be very noisy. You try to physically harm someone's child, the
emotional reaction is going to be off the scale. Is that worth the risk to
you and your boat for a noise?
