T&T: hard water

Well, the shipping season on Lake Superior is off to a slow start. First
the economy has kept ships in port at least a week longer than earlier
years. But today, I noticed a 700 foot freighter stuck in the ice a
couple of miles off shore. The Coast Guard has an icebreaker out there
trying to help, but it appeared that he too was stuck. I would imagine
that there is at least 10 feet of ice, maybe more inasmuch as the CG
icebreaker is having trouble. Ah, for the good old days of global
warming. O BTW, we had 7 inches of fresh snow overnite as a nasty April
fool's day joke. Though snow in April ain't very funny. I can remember
years of yore when we had our boat on Lake Superior by this time. Chilly,
yes, but on the water. Not this year.
