You got it.
After a while you'll get into and even acclimate to the rhythm of the
clanging and if so, you'll definitely notice when it changes, especially if
you hear them going crazy. That would be a clue that the wind has changed
speed and perhaps direction. It's definitely time to go do an anchor watch
or if you're at dock, check your lines and fenders.
