Hi Tim-

I cannot address the question that you pose, but it brings up another topic.

I find many bronze strainers, with age on them, have corroded drain plugs (in the bottoms, thus out of sight, out of mind); and tie rods. These items are brass, not bronze. It seems that by the time that the gaskets need replaced, so do these other items.
