Martin, I agree with everything you said... I also think that because your tanks pull fuel from the bottom you are unlikely to ever have problems with USA fuel... 
You will notice that the commercial fish and tug guys use black iron tanks (lots cheaper than SS) and that the tanks are elevated and pull fuel from the bottom, because that is what works in a boat that spends much of it's life trolling/trawling in rolling seas...... Their iron tanks last a lifetime because the condensation/water does not stand in them, it gets sucked out immediately - unlike most of the dock queens we pleasure boaters use...
