I purchased a Livingston 10' from Chesapeake Livingston Sales about 7 years
ago. They are a small company as Livingston is not popular in the Chesapeake
Bay. Livingston is very popular in the PNW though. I found them in a boat
show, and liked the idea of a catamaran for dinghy.
I like the boat very much. I hang it on the transom of my Albin 33. I
purchased it with a 4 cycle Honda 15 with power tilt, electric start and
remote steering. It is the wrong OB for the little Livingston 10. Later I
changed the OB to a 9.8 HP Tohatsu which is what the dealer recommended in the
first place. Much better match. Not only is the weight of the Honda an
issue, the mounting plate is too large and it interferes with the water flow
of the tunnel.
I almost have more fun with the dinghy than with the trawler. We use it a lot
for poking around after anchoring. I can carry a lot with this dinghy. I can
carry an adult bicycle, two kids bike, myself and my two kids, grocery, and
still plane. I routinely use it for towing inflatable toys, kneeboard, and
even junior size skis. This is all with a 9.8 HP OB. I can play a whole day
with the 3 gallon portable tank.
