T&T: float switch

I just finished mounting my Rule 3700 bilge pumps on their bases and wiring on
the ring terminals to attach it to the control terminal strip. This brought
into focus that the pump wiring looks to be 12-14 and the float switch is
16-18. Huh. Looked at the specs. The pump is rated at 15.5 amps and the float
switch is 35. How can this be? Run # 10 from the battery to the pump and the
circuit is closed with 18.
