Dave and All,

OOPS, I used the degree symbol in the temps and it came back as a 0.
Sorry 'bout that. The correct numbers are:

>Twin Disc Manual is SM-179 # 1015924,
>Rev. 2 titled: Model MG-502 and MG-502-1 Service
>Manual (for) Marine Transmission Conventional, dated March 1982. It says:
>
> Use API service class CD engine oils
>which is certified by the oil company to pass
>TO-2 or C-3 Test Specification. Also approved are
>SAE API service class CC engine oil and MIL-L-2104B.
>
> Oil viscosity: Note. Multi viscosity
>oils (i.e. 10W-40, etc.) are not recommended and
>should not be used in Twin Disc Marine Transmissions.
>
>Weights: (Temps refer to sump oil temp and oil in heat exchanger.)

> Steady operating condition below 105 deg. F - This
> operating condition is NOT approved.
>During startup, 32 deg. F Minimum and steady
>operating conditions of 150-185 deg. F: SAE viscosity number 30 engine oil
>During startup, 32 deg. F Minimum and steady
>operating conditions of 175-210 deg. F: SAE viscosity number 40 engine oil
> Steady operating condition over 200 deg. F - This
> operating condition is NOT approved.

I forgot that I could not use " ALT 0186 " ( 0186 typed in the
numbers keypad with Num Lock on) to make a degree symbol in this
forum. Again, sorry 'bout that.

Take care and be safe.
