T&T: A nagging question

I'm lucky. I race my sailboat, hence the sails come off and are properly
rolled and stored below after every sail. There is no bimini, BBQ pit, dodger
or roller gear to deal with...
I helped someone storm prep their boat when Rita was headed here. It took two
of us about 5 hours to clear the decks and secure all the gear, then rig up
the lines for a very high tide. I don't consider myself lazy, but I'm not sure
I'd want to spend half that time securing my boat after every sail on every
weekend during hurricane season. As it stands, I spend about 1.5hrs. doing a
lot less on a lot less boat.
It is very easy to sit in a comfy chair miles away and take swipes at
strangers you don't know, making generalizations you can't support, all based
on a few selected photos and your own immutable preconceptions.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, tho'. I've expressed mine and you've
expressed yours. It is clear that I am in the minority. My reaction is more
emotional than usual, as I have friends who have literally lost everything
material; home, boats, and jobs. These are good people, many of them good
mariners, who deserve better than being maligned from afar.
My last post. I go back to lurking or I'll just go away. I'll decide later.
Ricky
