T&T: A nagging question

In this thread, I see discussion about preparing for a hurricane just prior to the arrival of the storm.... I see points made that some people who own boats may be hundreds of miles away or have other valid reasons they cannot get to their boats... and I respect and understand those issues... BUT... if that is the case, there is an easy way around these arguments

I would say that during hurricane season if any boat owner expects that they will not be able to get to their boat just prior to the arrival of the storm, then every time they leave the boat, prepare it as though a hurricane will be coming while they are gone.....at least take down the bimini, double up all lines, take down sails, etc...

IMHO, some boat owners do not want to put in any extra effort.... They just want to come to the marina, jump on the boat, "turn on the key" and go out for a ride....

I speak from experience... my job takes me out of the country for weeks/months at a time... I perform all possible storm preparation prior to being gone... and it is a hassle... both to prepare the boat for a potential storm and to put the boat "back together" when I want to go out.....

All part of being a responsible boat owner... at least in IMHO...
