An old question comes to mind that always lurks in my brain when I look at
damaged boat pictures like those we are seeing as a result of Ike.

Why should an insurance company pay for any salvage or damage suffered as a
result of manifest lack of storm preparation?

I think that damage to sails, jibs, ising glass, bimini's, dodgers etc.
during a named storm (one that has a day or more warning) should not be
reimbursed by an insurance company. Those parts should have been at home or inside the
boat!!! If the boat had been properly prepped they would not have been
damaged. Maybe it also should trigger an investigation by the insurance company on
wether there is ANY coverage on the boat.
