Mr. Benford has responded several times on the Passagemark message boards.
The boat was closer to Sandy Point Lighthouse and then sank moving northwest
towards Baltimore Light/Magothy.

None of the comments on this sinking seem to add up, including 8 ft waves in
that stretch of the Magothy. It's hard to imagine over a 3 - 4 ft wave
building up in that stretch of water. I've seen 7 - 8 ft waves at the mouth
of the Potomac after 2 days of winds over 30 kts, but the rest of the Bay
and certainly the Magothy River simply doesn't have the combination of fetch
and depth to build to 8 ft waves.

Someone was going to write to Jay Benford and request an explanation of the
sinking. Did Mr Benford ever reply?
