1. That the boat was taking following seas over the stern that flooded the

hull up to ankle deep in the first deck... Obvious question is, why did the

water enter the boat - one can surmise that hatches/ports were open or

broken...

[Scott] I'd submit the obvious question is how was the engine still running
when they were ankle deep on the first deck? I don't know many designers
that provide snorkels to keep the engine running when the hull is flooded?
There is more going on here than any of us know. We were in the bay during
some of those thunderstorms and while shore lived, they sure can pack a
wallop! We departed Doziers one day and turned back when it appeared the
weather was going to deteriorate further north. The next day we had a
delightful trip up the bay. All up the ICW I had a laptop using a cellular
modem looking at the local NEXRAD weather radar. A number of times we
modified our trip plans due to approaching thunderstorms, in each instance
anchoring or docking prior to the storms arrival. I suspect the integrated
weather applications would have been equally helpful.

We are waiting to see how much wallop Hanna provides. I left the boat tied
up in CT and came to Martha's Vineyard by ferry. I'm hoping we return to a
securely tied up and dry boat. I bought extra lines and did the best I
could to secure her in a temporary slip. Your never 100% comfortable, but
you do the best you can and hope for some luck.
