T&T: Tranny Oil Cooler

Hmmm, interesting - our John Deere came w/ a fresh water cooled heat
exchanger for the TD. Could you switch to fresh water? Operating
temperature is in the low 200 range which the tranny seems to like.
Just a thought.

Our Lugger engine came piped with a Bowman cooler on the raw water
side for
the Twin Disc. This bronze cooler has no provision for zincs. Having
previously "lost" a non-zinc protected gear oil cooler to
electrolysis on our
sailboat, I bought an inline zinc and installed it between the cooler
and the
stainless exhaust spray ring. While wiring it to the cooler, I
wondered if this
improvement in protecting the cooler might be detrimental to the
spray ring
inlet fitting. Thoughts appreciated.
