Yes, if you have an unlocked GSM phone you can purchase a Bahamian SIMM card
at any Batelco office. The office is usually located under the tower. We
purchased one on Eleuthera earlier this year and it worked everywhere we
went - Exumas, Eleuthera, Chub Cay. The SIMM card gives you a local
Bahamian number which is convenient.

Has anyone purchased a simm card from Batelco for their GSM 1900mhz cell
phone? If so did it work in the Berries or the Exumas? I used a cell phone
in Chub this spring at their sales office when the only public phone would
not work. I would guess any island that has a Batelco tower might work but
their web site shows coverage in Grand Bahama and New Providence only. I'm
trying to plan ahead for this trip and need to be reached in a emergency. I
also don't plan on being in the areas where the cruiser net groups can
contact you or wifi is available.
Thanks Duane
