John shared: We have found that wherever there is (a lot of) wifi, the
cellular data is very slow and/or sporadic. We use Verizon with the Sierra
595 card. This is true at Anchorage Marina in Baltimore and Port Annapolis
and other places.

Using our wired cell amp makes it even worse.

Scott comments: I'm in Spa Creek in Annapolis. I have two laptop computers
using 802.11g WIFI to a Kyocera KR1 router with a Verizon USB720 cell modem.
The USB720 antenna jack is connected to the 3 watt Digital Antenna AMP
(sorry don't have the model number handy), which is then connected to a
Digital Antenna 8' combined VHF/Cellular fiberglass antenna. The antenna is
on the pilothouse roof, about 15 feet of the water. I'm getting 1.5mb
download and 230k upload as measured by www.speakeasy.net/speedtest

I have found this solution to work 99% of the time we have been up and down
the West and East coast. In fringe areas the AMP improves coverage
dramatically. It can be difficult to evaluate the performance of the amp in
busy areas and I have had scenarios where performance with the system was
not improved by using the amp, but it's never degraded performance. Oh, in
this anchorage (spa creek) I can NOT see the local free Annapolis wifi, but
there are at least a dozen other AP's broadcasting SSID's.

In summary, DA has a big problem that they don't provide any user
diagnostics or white papers that allow their customers to effectively
evaluate their systems performance. I know a fat boater that would be happy
to write a white paper for the, but boy would it cost them a pretty penny!
