T&T: Comar AIS-2-USB & Antenna Splitters

I've got 2 questions. I'm looking at adding an AIS receiver. I like what I
see in the Comar AIS-2-USB. I use a MacBook Pro with MacENC so, a USB AIS is
easy to install.

Has anyone used this AIS receiver? Also, what are the issues with using an
antenna splitter instead of a dedicated AIS antenna.
