Henry:

Try: http://www.mcmaster.com/ and search for Pump House Heaters. The 500
watt model is 1991K65 and they cost $125. They have 500, 750 and 1000 watt
units

This is the write up:

Light Duty Stainless Steel Radiant Heaters Case and grill are made of
Type 304 stainless steelideal for protecting mechanical equipment from
condensation, corrosion, and freezing in damp, corrosive environments.
Commonly used in pump and utility rooms and other indoor applications.
Heaters can be mounted vertically or horizontally to wall or floor using
the included mounting bracket that has four 3/16" dia. mounting holes
(fasteners not included). Units have a built-in thermostat that adjusts
from 400 to 900 F. Size is 17" Ht. x 6 1/4" Wd. x 3 5/8" Dp. Units have
two 6" wire leads and operate on 50/60 Hz, single phase. When operating on
208 VAC, the heat output (Btu) and wattage will decrease by 25%.

I have three 500 watt units in my bilge. I like the ability to use low
wattage heaters and being able to spread them around. You could also
consider block heaters with a thermostat that cuts off at 50 or 60 degrees.
There are similar "Marine Units" available from West but they are much more
expensive.
