T&T: Digital TV Question

I have a Panasonic LCD TV that is about 5 years old on my boat. It
does not have a digital tuner. Currently I have a Glomex powered
antenna with an AB switch that allows me to switch between dockside
cable and the antenna. There is a single coax cable running from the
Glomex amplifier/AB switch to the TV.

Question

Can I insert one of the digital tuner boxes between the Glomex
amplifier/AB switch and the TV? When I am on dockside cable the
digital tuner would be seeing an analog signal on it's input side and
when I am on the antenna it would see a digital signal. Is it smart
enough to distinguish? Will the Glomex antenna and amplifier even
work with digital signals?

I really don't want to run another coax from the amplifier/switch to the TV.
