T&T: Snap, crackle & pop

Here in Hilton Head SC the sound comes from the shrimp and / or oyster beds
around my boat. It really gets weird when you come across drum fish, which
make a sound like a 5 second humming sound.

Fellow cruisers

We are in Enseanda, MX and once again it sounds like I am moored in a bowl
of Rice Crispies. There is an ongoing snap, crackle & pop coming from the
immersed hull.
It is not unique to this boat as I can hear it at most of our neighbors. I
also experienced it in Ventura and to a lesser extent in San Diego.
Does anyone know what it is? I really would like to know,
