T&T: Cutting Stanpro Flexible Window Channel

Since we're on the subject of window channel, I'd like to hear others
experiences with cutting the flexible version of Stanpro's product.
Their instructions say that the flexible channel should be cut with
snips. I assume this is to keep the small cap that seems to be glued
onto the fabric that encases the channel from coming off.

I replaced the window frames on my Island Gypsy 32 last winter along
with the track and glass. Even though I followed the directions on
using the snips on the flexible track, I sill had problems getting the
small cap to stay on especially when using them on the tighter radius
turns. I think one of the problems I had was that the slot in the frame
that accepted the track could have been a bit wider but even after
getting the track installed, I still have one window where that cap came
off several weeks after being installed.

Any similar experiences or tips for anyone doing this project in the
future?
