This is a boat show rant. The Annapolis Sailboat Show is followed the next
week by the Annapolis Powerboat Show in October. I get both programs with
the Chesapeake Bay Magazine. I have looked at both the last couple of years
and I am always surprised how many companies exhibit at the Sailboat show
but don't stay and have a booth at the Powerboat show 4 days later. I like
visiting the booths and looking at new stuff and getting new ideas. I did a
comparison of vendors with names starting in A through E. There are 198
vendors in this class at the sailboat show and 159 at the powerboat show.
These vendors with names from A to E were exhibitors at the sailboat show
but are not at the powerboat show. I picked these because I am familiar
with them and would probably at least slow down at their booths.
Achilles USA, Inc
AhoyCaptain.com
Algae-X International
Artisans Custom Mattress, Inc.
BALMAR
Bitter End Yacht Club
Bomar, Div of Pompanette, LLC
Coastal Explorer
Crown Blue Line
Davis Instruments
East Penn Mfg. Co., Inc.
Edson International
If I took the time to go through the whole list I am know I could have a
much better list but you get the idea. I know some vendors think that
Powerboaters are more inclined to take their boat to a marina and tell them
to fix it and sail boaters are suppose to be more hands-on. Even if you buy
this I still find this hard to understand. Maybe they think because diesel
is expensive we can't afford anything else.
Next year I am going to go to the Sailboat show!.
