You can get (more than) your fill of ferries and have a nice trip by:
Take whatever Canadian ferry gets you to Sidney, BC
Take the Washington State ferry to Anacortes, WA (Check the schedule!)
Drive over the Deception Pass bridge (a landmark) to Keystone
Take the Keystone/Port Townsend ferry to Port Townsend (reservations
required)
Take a side trip to Hurricane Ridge
Go to Kingston, and take the Edmonds/Kingston ferry
Drive the rest of the way to Seattle
This route maximizes ferries, unless you really want to get into it and
include the San Juan islands. If you are taking the ferry to Port Angeles
to get to the US then you will start with the "side trip to Hurricane Ridge"
from Port Angeles, and you will only have two ferry rides. If you follow
my plan, expect to stay overnight in Port Angeles or Port Townsend.
The website for the ferries is www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries; you will want to
check the schedules because they do not run all that often and sometimes
fill up. I have spent much of my life in ferry lines.
If you don't have much time, the Seattle/Bainbridge ferry is a nice quick
run. Bainbridge has some nice public waterfront with fantastic views of
Seattle.
