The Center for Wooden Boats on Lake Union is worth a visit. Not
Trawler-centric but very boaty. The link is http://www.cwb.org/VisitCWB.htm.
You can also catch the ferry from Seattle to Winslow on Bainbridge Island
(http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/info_desk/route-maps/) that gets you in
pretty good range to go to Port Townsend and Poulsbo. Both towns have strong
maritime traditions. If you are taking the ferry from Victoria to Port
Angeles, then Port Townsend is a nice side trip. On that route you could
also catch the Bremerton to Seattle ferry (a long run) on your way into
Seattle.

Have a good trip.

Regards,

Subject: T&T: Boatless in Seattle

List;
I'm doing a training in Mission, BC right now and will do another in
Seattle next week. Arild has moved out to the 'hinterlands' so I will not be
able to visit with him. I have a few days to kill in Seattle (driving down
Sat. morning) and I'm asking folks here on the list for some
'trawler-centric' sights to see in the greater Seattle area before my class
starts Tuesday morning.
I usually take as many ferries as possible when I come up here, but I
have never been to Seattle before, are there good ways to get out on the
water to have a look around? I might try to take the ferry out to Vancouver
Island and then from Victoria back to the States but I'm not sure if the
schedules will make that possible. Looking at Google Earth it 'appears' I
can drive the coast (maybe catch a few ferries (did I say I liked to take
them?<grin>) work my way around Olympic Park and get back to Seattle from
the south.
If I can't get out on the water a good maritime museum or two would
probably fit the bill too.
    What say the list?

Thos.
