Just to show how odd this problem can be, I had a gen set that would shut down at the oddest times ,no logic whatsoever, would run for 8 hrs , then quit, would re start with no problem but maybe quit in 5 mins.
This problem took 9 mos to fix.
The gen set comes off the same header as the mains, the fuel supply to the big racors was through a flexible fuel line that had a swivel connection at the racor, this swivel connection had a builtin O ring as a seal, the O ring had deteriorated just enough to allow some air to go back to the header then into the gen set racor, and that would shut it down. replaced the hoses and problem gone away.
So, it takes much investigation and frustration to find air leaks specially on the suction side, usually a pressure test will temporarily seal the minor problem but open it up on vacuum.
