T&T: ICW areas to watch out for

Alanui traveled the ICW from West Palm to Norfolk this past June. We gently
touched soft bottom once, in a well known area, identified in all the
cruising guides. Much of the trip we had single digit depths Below our 4
foot 9 inch draft. I got use to seeing 2 or 3 feet and eventually became
use to it, but it did take some time. I was always surprised how much
hoopla is made about "this is the worst section of the ICW for x miles".
Honestly, if you pay attention, slow down when necessary, watch the weather
and be careful during low tides, it should be a delightful trip. We are
looking forward to anchoring out much more on the way down, but we will go
back to some of our favorite cities (Beaufort, Savannah, Charleston, St.
Augustine.). What would be really nice is if we accumulated a list of who
is where and when and perhaps host some T&T raft ups!
We plan to depart Norfolk's Tidewater Marina on Nov 2 in company with a 35'
Nordhavn, the same boat we came north with. We hope to arrive Stuart FL
before Thanksgiving. We would love to meet more of you as we come south!
Thanks, Scott
