David,
I did the ICW north with 6' draft in may and will be heading back south in
2 weeks.
www.cruisersnet.net is the best source of info.
Skipper Bob too although not as detailed http://www.skipperbob.net/index.htm
there are a few "false alarms" in there, mosly guys who strayed off channel
and ran into trouble.
another great source of data although a little tricky to navigate are the
Corps of engineers surveys, especially for the areas where the ICW crosses
inlet.
Shallotte, Lockwood' folly, Little River, etc... this will tell you where
the water is.
http://www.sac.usace.army.mil/?action=navigation.surveymaps
i find that studying the charts, making notes of possible tricky spots the
night before, helps a lot.
and of course in places like Hell Gate, Jekyll, Little Mud river, play the
tides...
