In the past this list has provided me with quick, in-depth and helpful
information regarding numerous issues. Once again I am asking for your most
knowledgeable opinions/solutions regarding what I deem a deficiency with the
placement and number of cleats on my boat.
I have a 1986 Californian LRC. This boat has only one bow cleat, located in
the centerline of the boat about 1-2 feet aft of the windlass. The boat
also has two chocks located left and right of the center cleat where you
would run the bow line from the dock through the chocks to the single bow
cleat.
My thoughts are to remove the two chocks and replace them with sufficiently
sized cleats with hefty backing plates. This will help keep the deck free
of unnecessary lines and allow for easier tying and untying of the docking
lines.
Your thoughts?
