T&T: Furuno FCV-600L sounder

I made a post on this subject here a while back about my FB sounder display
getting weak. When I got a break in my busy schedule, I swapped it for my
identical lower unit. The primary use for the lower unit with the exception of
cruising in air-conditioned comfort if need be, is to take a nervous peek in
the dead of night to see if the bottom's come up any. The dim screen's bright
enough for that.

The local F people wanted $350 for the display and $100 to install it. This
doesn't guarantee that that's the problem. This morning I removed the cover
and pulled it down to access the display "ribbon" connecter. Although it
appeared free of corrosion I buffed both ends and reassembled the unit. It was
no better. No worse but no better.

Now does anyone have an idea where I can get a new display cheaper than the
dealer wants for it or maybe a junked unit with a good display?
