T&T: 120V green ground conductor

Maybe the engine is isolated or maybe not. Our "isolated ground" Tier 1
Lugger 668 (year 2002) has a Lucas injection pump with a cold start advance (CSA)
wax motor. The negative side of the heater is connected to the shell of the
wax motor, which is threaded into the injection pump. So our "isolated
ground" engine is grounded by design, or the CSA will not work. Some of these
engines were supplied with Stanadyne pumps, which have 2-wire isolated ground wax
motors. Also interesting is that the CSA on the Stanadyne pump is energized
only until the jacket water reaches 140F; on the Lucas pump the CSA is
energized after the water temp rises above 140F.

>. some of the newer engines are now deisgned not to have the block
as a DC current carrying conductor in the start circuit. The end result
is
an engine that is still isolated. this negates the intent of th eABYC
standad.
