I am seeing that dreaded red streak coming from under one of my diesel fuel
tanks and am now doing some research to determine my options for dealing with
this situation. The tank is low in the hull and was designed and built to
conform to the "V" shape of the hull and I can not see any of the tank after
it disappears below the stringers and the leak seems to be hidden in this
lower section of the tank. I will be able to access the tank through the top
after removing the floor that covers the tank.

Welding may not be advisable so I am looking at a number of options for
cleaning the tank and sealing it from the inside. There are several products on
the market referred to as "Slosh Sealers" which have apparently been on the
market for many years but most of them seem to have been developed for
aluminum aircraft tanks.

I'm hoping that some of you may have used one of these or similar products
and might be able to give me some first hand advice based on your experience.

This one is called a moisture cure urethane sealer

This one is a polymer product that supposedly stays flexible and will never
crack of peal off

This is a rubber based product distributed by the aircraft and plot
suppliers.

A forth and obvious product is epoxy from a company such as West Systems.
My concern here is that epoxy may be too thick and may not flow into and seal
pin holes although I could most likely overcome that objection by thinning
the product.

If any of you have experience sealing a diesel tank from the inside using
one of the products or types of products mentioned above I would surely
appreciate learning from your success or failures. If anyone has had success with
any other products please tell me about it.
