Well Marin and Gary both have very valid points as I am certain that we 
all would be astounded at the degree of pollution from "natural" 
sources. In our immediate area there are many dairy farms that are on 
property that naturally slopes and drains into the local waters. If you 
have a herd of 50 cows grazing in a field, seasonally accompanied by a 
great many Canada Geese, you cannot help but have a natural degree of 
pollution into those waters. As for the coastal waters of British 
Columbia in general it has been my observation that more and more 
boaters, even in remote areas, are not dumping directly overboard and 
are going into deep/fast water to dump their holding tanks where there 
is no pump out facility within reason. The little bays within Desolation 
Sound Marine Park were totally disgusting a few years ago and then there 
was the declaration regarding "no dumping" zones which has quite 
obviously made a huge difference. In the past I would not think of 
letting our dog play in these waters and now they are "almost" swimming 
waters again.
Common sense goes along ways in this entire problem area.
