Well Marin and Gary both have very valid points as I am certain that we
all would be astounded at the degree of pollution from "natural"
sources. In our immediate area there are many dairy farms that are on
property that naturally slopes and drains into the local waters. If you
have a herd of 50 cows grazing in a field, seasonally accompanied by a
great many Canada Geese, you cannot help but have a natural degree of
pollution into those waters. As for the coastal waters of British
Columbia in general it has been my observation that more and more
boaters, even in remote areas, are not dumping directly overboard and
are going into deep/fast water to dump their holding tanks where there
is no pump out facility within reason. The little bays within Desolation
Sound Marine Park were totally disgusting a few years ago and then there
was the declaration regarding "no dumping" zones which has quite
obviously made a huge difference. In the past I would not think of
letting our dog play in these waters and now they are "almost" swimming
waters again.
Common sense goes along ways in this entire problem area.
