Right on Marin. It's very ridiculous for me living at Stuart Island, WA.
Stuart is the turning point (Turn Point Lighthouse) for all the commercial
shipping going to Vancouver and upper WA state mainland. From my house I see
South Pender Island (Canada) six miles away. Believe me there is a LOT of
water flushing through Boundary Pass then down Haro Strait past Victoria and
out to the ocean. I need to take the boat three miles out into Canadian waters
to pump the holding tank. Funny thing is it's the same water as that going by
at Turn Point. Turn Point is also very active with USCG training and we all
get "used" for inspection training so it's good to stay legal there.

"But where you have a city of millions of people dumping untreated sewage
directly into a body of water like the San Juan Strait with its strong
currents and very high water exchange rate, if every recreational boater
who went through those same waters pumped their holding tanks as they
did so, the difference they would make would be irrelevant.
For the greenies, which is worse--- using the
fuel and generating several hours of evil diesel exhaust by going miles
out of the way to pump out a full holding tank, or pumping out the tank
into high-dispersal waters, running the boat less hours, and generating
fewer emissions? "
