Serial (RS-232) <-> USB adaptors are readily available - I bought a
couple of generic ones - one from the Canadian equivalent of Radio
Shack, I think - and both work fine for me (but I'm getting a new Dell
notebook tomorrow - I hope I won't have different results...)

It appears from the Garmin installation guide that the 2010 has 4
serial ports - I haven't looked at the user manual to see how they can
be used, so don't know if that unit understands AIS data...
