To follow up a message from Tuesday-
In Narragansett Bay, I saw almost the usual number of boats out in the Bay
over Memorial Day Weekend. However, my wife works for a local marina and she
reports transient slip reservations are down significantly from last year.
The Spring boat show in Newport was about half the size of last year.
Gas is about $5/gallon in the Bay and I think that will curtail boating to
some extent. But I was surprised at the number of big Sea Rays and Carvers
thundering along at 20 knots plus this weekend seemingly indifferent to
higher gas prices.
