T&T: Are people not boating?

In my marina we had many boats go out for the weekend.....most were sail though. The power boaters (not trawlers) stayed home for the most part. We are seeing more and more slips open up. Not sure the reason though...might be Katrina and Wilma opened up cheaper slips somewhere else and the boats are eventually migrating to fill them. High gas and diesel certainly isn't heping though I'm sure.

I had sold my OA 42 about a year and a half ago and was looking forward to getting back on the water with a used boat purchase, but to be honest with the fuel costs and the general costs of boating going up, I have to stay on land. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has come to that conclusion.

Day weekend it is usually jammed with boats. This weekend, it could
best be described as empty. Has the fuel crisis hit to such an
extent that boats are just staying in their slips? If so, there are
going to be a lot of boats on the market soon.

Best,

Steve
