T&T: Cleaning Fender Goop Off Boat

I have Taylor Big B fenders that are cranberry in color.  The fenders 
are stored on deck and the boat is in Florida.  After about 18 
months, the fenders deteriorate and when used leave a plastic red 
residue on the hull.  In the past I have scraped the residue off but 
I am thinking that maybe there is a solvent that would work.  Any ideas?
