T&T: Ballast

Our semi-displacement boat has 240 feet of 3/8" chain in the bow and is also
bow heavy in the slip. I am thinking of going over to nylon rode but having
doubts about the efficacy of the change.
We only anchor in that good California adobe mud so all chain rode is not a
neccessity.
Would I get better mileage with all that weight gone?
