Yes.  Get good ones like Crosbys. They are not as strong as the chain,  but 
they are adequate. That's the pro. The con is that there's no other good way  
to join chain and have it run through your windlass. Be sure to peen the  
un-headed rivets over with the proper sized ball peen. Paint fluorescent orange  or 
some such so you'll be reminded to inspect and replace as needed. No  worries.

West Marine catalog says it's as strong as the  same size link in the  chain.
