T&T: alternator belts

Larry,
One work-around would be to remove the alternator pulley (needs a 15/16"
open end wrench and a 5/16" allen wrench), slip on the belt, and re-install
the pulley.  This method gives you about an extra 3/8" of clearance (the
depth of the groove on the pulley), or about the same as a belt 3/4" longer.
Bit, it's a PITA to do this every time you need to change the belt.
