I've never encountered that sort of emergency but certainly like the
auxiliary electric fuel pump (Walbro 6802) I have mounted before the Racors
and switched into the circuit with a 3-way valve. One of its purposes is
the exact situation you describe, though so far I've used it solely to pump
in fuel to top off the Racors after filter element change.

Subject: T&T: electric lift pump?
the lehman manual said the injector was supposed to be self bleeding. should
i have opened the two bolts on the side as well as the individual injectors?
should i have an electric lift pump as an auxiliary.?
i am going to buy a remote electric starter switch for the next time.
