Agree.  I have never seen a good 12v appliance, and they cost a  lot.  
Suggest you buy a small 4 cup coffee pot and use a simple  inverter.  1000 watts for 
$80, and it will drive your TV, laptop, small  microwave, household lights, 
etc.  Suggest short 12vdc run and longer  110vac run.  Heavy 12 v draw, so 
watch the batteries.  My 2  cents.  JeemboNC
