T&T: Bowline vs spliced loop 2

>I have never heard of a dock line failing at a bowline.  They usually fail
at another chafe point.  

The use of a splice guarantees that the chafe on that end of the line will
always be at the same point -- at the apex of the splice.  With a
"double-ended line" the chafe point will vary.
